Micromasters TITANS - Q&A

Well this journal might be a bit on the late side, but I thought it would probably help explain a couple of recurring questions about the Micromasters TITANS fancomic. :)

Q: Will this comic be published? Where will I be able to buy it?
A: Unfortunately, it won't be 'published' in a store, online or worldwide, in fact, it won't be published by a comic company at all. Why? Because it's a fancomic, which means it's not official. (And Hasbro hopefully won't sue me for not having a license, seeing as I'm trying to make their products more popular for free. ;) Hasbro has allowed fancomics in the past, even hired many fanartists on official products, so I doubt there will be problems - and no I'm not expecting to be hired by Hasbro either =P Silly.).

Q: Why are you doing this comic if it's not going to be official? Are you plotting on going professional?
A: For several reasons, many really. Firstly, for fun. Secondly, because Micromasters are ignored throughout the fan(artist)dom and they need some loving. Thirdly, for practice: I wanted to see if I could do sequentials and because those would look good in a portfolio IF I ever decide to make one and potentially submit it to a comic company. Going pro is not really in my planning, as study comes first, but if an oppertunity would arrise, I may very well consider it. But let's be realistic, there are many, many people, many of which are thankfully close friends, who deserve that more than me. :)

Q: Are there going to be more pages?
A: Yes. This is just the first half of the first issue and it might as well have been an issue #0, as it's mostly introducing the characters for this fancomic, which could grow to a volume depending on the time I have. I've even got plotbunnies for sequels all over the place though. :)

Q: Will these pages be inked and coloured?
A: Hopefully. I've asked a friend of mine to ink and he's testing inking the first page, he said he'd see if he could do all, depending on the outcome of that page. Now, IF that happens, colours should be on the way as well as arranging colours is easy: either I do it myself or I ask/blackmail/force/coherce one of my many minio... friends. :)

Q: Why are the Micromasters so big? I thought they were the size of humans or smaller?
A: They were in the Micromasters as depicted by Marvel and Dreamwave. I'm however, using the Transformers Victory Micromaster size, which is slightly smaller than Minibots. However, some Micromasters may be taller than other Micromasters, depending on their altmode.

Q: Are you only going to use Micromasters, or will we also see other characters show up?
A: That would be telling, wouldn't it? :) I'll say this: You'll definitely see more than just Micromasters, if you paid close attention, you've in fact already seen a few show up. Most of those will be related to the Japanese series, who you didn't see (much if at all) in the western shows and comics. Their sizes will also be (re-)considered on a bot for bot basis.

Q: When does the comic take place?
A: In 2021. Why 2021? Because. ;)

Q: What is the setting?
A: The Masterforce war on Earth ended, resulting in the Decepticon Powermasters, Pretenders and all moved to Nebulos to join up with the other Masters. As a result, the Autobot Masters and Pretenders also moved to Nebulos. Note that I'm saying POWERMasters, not GODMasters. I'll be using the English names and when possible, characters. So no transtectors. No Wilder, but Fangry, etc. However, they'll most likely won't show up much (if at all), leaving this to the reader to decide. I'll try to avoid plot conflicts as much as possible, even making some rough connections, leaving the other series to be fully enjoyable as well.

Q: So then which continuity are you following? Japanese? Marvel UK? Manga? Dreamwave's Micromasters?
A: This'll be a long answer. :) In short: None and some, it'll be my own interpretation, taking tidbits from the different series and slightly fitting it in between an (adapted to the western characters/names version of) Masterforce and Victory.

None, as in I'm not making this a direct sequel or prequel to any of those previous incarnations. Some, as I'm using those aspects from the different series that I feel are the 'correct' choices. Correct is a very subjective thing ofcourse.

The most important thing I'm focussing on, are the Tech Specs - these are the core of the Micros. Next to that, seeing as Dreamwave's More Than Meets The Eye is so popular and to many people all they know about Micromasters, many characters will be roughly based on those profiles, with tweaks where I want tweaks, they won't be direct ports. However, you can completely forget about anything that happened in the DW/Marvel Micromaster comics and any MTMTE references to those comics.

I'm placing it roughly in an adapted time line between the end of Transformers Masterforce and the beginning of Transformers Victory. However, neither series will be followed in continuity, as the characterisation I'm using will be more mature, just like any other Transformer that's not named Wheelie. So no, MY Micromasters won't be teen robots (as in Victory and Dreamwave). And no, not ALL Micromasters will be Autobots (as in Zone). What about the Japanese mangas? Well, I've unfortunately never read them, so I couldn't possibly take them into account. But as stated before, many of the sizes will be based on Transformers Victory. My approach will be somewhat similar to Victory, but a bit more serious meaning, so no occasional chibis. TF Chibis are Shumworld's and Matt Moylan's terrain. ;)

Q: You mentioned they won't be teen robots, speaking of teens, will we see any of the kids from Masterforce, Victory or Zone? Will you make some kids up that constantly play an important role in the war? What will be the human role?
A: No. Don't be silly. This is war between robots, it's not a children's playground. The only kids involved with Micromasters should be the ones handling the toys (with care) or reading the comics. :) The human role will also be limited. At most the EDC (prolly as an upgrade to NATO), but I have no plans for human organisations playing important roles, at most, like the gascompany in this first issue, they'll be targeted and defending or requesting help from the Autobots. There's in my opinion not a single united world. That'd not be feasible on such a short timescale after today. The United Nations would be the most unified thing there'd be, but just as divided as always.

Other than that, I suck at drawing humans. :paranoid:

Q: How much do humans know of the Transformers?
A: They've been buttkicked by Transformers since 1984 with periods of calm (in between series).

Q: Where will the comic take place?
A: It'll start in Norway and Cybertron, but it'll shift around. Perhaps other planets will be visited in the long run. That depends on Countdown and Skystalker's plans.

Q: Planets? Will Planet V and Planet Micro make their appearance? Any others?
A: No immediate plans for those. Maybe. You may see some contact with the Transformers on Nebulos on occasion, but that won't be expanded upon much.

Q: You mentioned Countdown and Skystalker. Shouldn't Star Saber and Deathsaurus in control? Or Dai Atlas and... the ehr... the Quintesson like figure Violenjiger?
A: No comments. You'll just have to read more. :)

Any other questions, or anything is unclear, do post them! You might just get an answer! Or not. :giggle:

What..? I'm only crazy to keep my sanity... :dygel:
Nope. That would be Rob Ruffolo's art to Mick/Patyk's writing. I've never done any official work.
